Daddy D managed to get a week off of work at the last minute, so we decided to make the most of it, and try to do as much as possible with the kids.
We managed to fit in quite a lot of the fun stuff, until I got sick towards the end of the week.
Today we decided to take a trip to Whipsnade zoo. The kids absolutely love animals, but we don't get the chance to go very often. In fact, the last time we went, Roo was a baby and was still in a pushchair!
I was quite impressed at how early we managed to get out of the house, too, considering organising our family is like organising a small army.
We decided to take the bus, (which I would normally avoid like the plague) as this would enable us to get 2 for 1 entry into the zoo. (A god send when it costs so much to get in).
The kids absolutely loved every second of it.
We managed to see all of the main animals. Lions, tigers, bears, sea lions, hippos, elephants, giraffes, chimpanzees, cheetahs, penguins ......... the list goes on and on.
We enjoyed lunch in the Wild Bite Cafe, and went for a ride on the Jumbo Express.
The weather was dry, and warm, and we managed to escape without any major meltdowns.
It was a fabulous day, enjoyed by all.
Today we decided to go bowling!
The one nearest to us has "glow" bowling.
Great fun, with the lights turned down, and the pins glowing in the dark.
I must have been a bit over-excited, as I booked 3 games for us, forgetting how long the games can take when you have 3 children playing. Ooops.
2 games would have been more than enough, as towards the end of the second game, Roo had lost interest, and little man was fed up with sitting in his chair watching.
Even with the games being a bit long winded for the brood, we still had another fantastic day and decided to go to the local wetherspoons for dinner once the games were completed.
There was a lovely little park just outside of the wetherspoons, so the kids could have a run around after dinner, and then we took a nice slow walk home.
Today was the day that I had been dreading ........ swimming!
Me + swimsuit = my worst nightmare!
We are a bit bored with the local pool, as there isn't much too it, and it doesn't hold the children's attention for very long. So after much begging and pleading from CJ, we decided to go to Aqua splash in Hemel Hempstead.
I used to go a lot as a child, and would spend hours there with my best friend.
It's such a fantastic place for kids.
They have lots of different water slides, water fountains, water falls and a separate section that is shallower for the smaller kids.
Once I could get in the water and hide, I really enjoyed myself.
It took Boo a little while to warm up to the idea, as it was very noisy, with a lot of people, and he refused to go into the deeper part of the pool for a while, even though he could easily stand safely.
I eventually managed to calm him down and coax him into the water, but he insisted on holding my hand the whole time we were there.
We left little man with his Nanna while we went swimming, as it would have been too over whelming for him, and he would not have been able to stay in the water for very long.
When we go again, I will probably just take the older 2, as Roo got cold very quickly, and was too little to appreciate the water slides.
Safe to say, the kids will sleep well tonight!
Today I have been feeling really poorly, so we have decided to have a quiet day in.
We all enjoyed a lovely DVD day, snuggled up on the sofa, and even had a sneaky take-away. Lol
Today we went to the indoor soft pay centre.
It was little man's first visit, and he loved sitting in the baby section, seeing all of the different colours and throwing around the balls from the ball pit.
I had a mad hour with the kids, running around in the main play area, playing hide and seek, and whizzing down the slides, while Daddy D sat with little man.
I know ....... Big Kid! But I loved it!
We've had such a lovely week together, and it was very much needed.
I have still ben feeling very poorly, so we had a quiet Saturday and Sunday, playing, watching DVD's and generally enjoying each others company.
Daddy D is back to work today, and I think we are all going to miss him and find it hard, going back to the usual routine.
I had been dreading the summer holidays, and trying to cope with Boo, but having Daddy D home this week has been lovely, and made things so much easier.
